Official tour Rugbyclub ‘t Gooi - CYMRU 2006

Legends,

Welcome on board and glad you all made it in time! Your journey has begun and for the next 4 days you will be dedicated to a group of 50 male and primarily overweight beer drinking gentlemen behaving like animals. Finally escaped from the daily jokes at the office, 2 hour traffic jams, tough training sessions on the rugby paddock and/or usual fights with the miss’. The next 4 days you will spend day and night with your mates from Rugbyclub ‘t Gooi and more specifically your newest best friend at the club; i.e. your buddy!

In the past months we have put some work and dedication in trying to organize a tour that would not only include rugby, but would breathe rugby! We believe we have succeeded in organizing 4 days that for some of you feels like the ordinary life back home (Kiwi’s seem to be quite in love with the game…) but for others clearly will bring another dimension to the great game of rugby. It will be no surprise that there is only one venue in Europe to visit: WALES!

The hospitality we already received from the two clubs (North Peterthon and Llandaff North) has been overwhelming and a tribute to the true spirit of rugby. But please have no illusions, our dear hosts may look friendly, they will definitely give us a hard time on the pitch and try to make us feel as miserable as possible, and rightly so!

But I feel we are in a unique position to write some tour history for ‘t Gooi! The size of the group is a great reflection of the spirit and diversity at our club and I believe many clubs worldwide would be very jealous at making a tour with 50 of your mate including: 6 different nationalities, 80% of the 1st XV, plenty of Golden Oldies, famous game breakers from our 3rd XV, two Colts, etc. In conclusion: a great bunch of guys to have a great weekend.

Finally I would like to thank Hans, Friso and Macca in helping me making this tour already a success!

Enjoy, Dirk, Friso, Andrew
